It was over a month ago when the 2019-20 Premier League season began. On Saturday, the new EPL season kicks off with a four-game slate, with defending league champions Liverpool hosting the newly promoted Leeds United.
The 2020–21 season kicks off on July 26, exactly one and a half months after the previous season. It was a historic campaign, as Liverpool won their first home title since 1990. It did it with an 18 point advantage over second-placed Manchester City.
Leeds United are among three teams to receive promotion to the Premier League for the 2020–21 season, including West Bromwich Albion and Fulham. Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich City were rejoined for the championship.
Elsewhere in Europe, Spain's La Liga season also begins on Saturday with three games. The German Bundesliga closed their season on 18 September to host FC Schalke 04 with newly crowned UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich. Italy's Serie A plays on 19 September. Lig 1 of France opened its season on 28 August.
