The government of West Bengal orders a full lockout of two days every week from now to rein Coronavirus

To prevent COVID-19 spreading across the state, the Government of West Bengal has announced a complete lockdown across the state for two days every week. The strict lockdown will begin this week. The state government announced full lockout in Bengal on July 23 and July 25, West Bengal Home Secretary, Alapan Bandyopadhyay said. He said that all offices, transport services will be closed in those two days.

"It will be closed next week, July 29," the home secretary said.
As per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Affairs, the control areas in the states were strict lockdowns. The state had 'broad-based' control areas. The state government has recently clubbed the contribution zone and the buffer zone around them to form a 'broad-based' contribution zone.

Bandyopadhyay said during his press conference, "Community broadcast of COVID-19 was recorded in some areas of West Bengal."
According to a report by the news agency Press Trust of India, the state government plans to set up COVID-19 units in every private and state-run hospital, amid a rapid rise in coronavirus cases. He said that during the first phase, COVID-19 units would be set up in South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, and General Hospitals in Purva and Paschim Medinipur districts.

"Increasing the number of beds in hospitals in districts is the only option. This will also reduce the pressure on the city's hospitals," the official said.
The Mamata Banerjee government was also planning to ramp up the test in the state. "The way COVID-19 cases are increasing in West Bengal is quite worrisome. To combat proliferation, the best way is to conduct more trials and improve infrastructure ... We have all But plans to install COVID-19 units. " Government hospitals and private hospitals in Bengal, ”the official told.

The total number of coronavirus patients in the state was 42,487. The deadly virus claimed 1,112 lives in the eastern state.

Last week, the Mamata Banerjee-led government extended a ban on domestic flights to Kolkata from high-spread locations. No flights will be allowed at Kolkata Airport till July 31 from six cities of the country. These cities are Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Chennai, and Ahmedabad. The West Bengal government had earlier banned domestic flights from 6 to 19 July.
